Caroline Stephens earned her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in May 2004 and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2004 and the Illinois Bar in 2006. She is also a member of the St. Louis Bar and the American Bar Association. Caroline comes to Security Title from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where she practiced Commercial Litigation working on a team that prosecuted claims on behalf of a major national bank against mortgage bankers/loan originators to enforce repurchase obligations for loans sold in the secondary investment market. Caroline also worked in securities litigation as part of a team that defended a brokerage firm against suitability and misrepresentation claims by five school districts related to alleged fraud in connection with a $200 million investment in synthetic CDOs.
Before law school, Caroline spent nearly 10 years in the mortgage industry, starting as a processor and later as a loan officer. As part of her commitment to the value of education, Caroline tutors in the St. Louis Public School District and at the International Institute.
