John Schaefer is the CEO and an owner of Security Title Insurance Agency, LLC, Benchmark Title Company, LLC, St. Louis Title, LLC, and Accurate Disbursing, LLC. Prior to founding these entities, Mr. Schaefer spent fifteen years as General Counsel for a major residential development, construction, and subcontracting company and seven years in private practice with Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. Mr. Schaefer holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Dayton, an MBA from Emory University, and a JD from Saint Louis University’s School of Law. He is very involved with both the real estate industry and community, having served on the boards of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf, DeSmet Jesuit High School, Founders Bank, and the advisory boards of Pulaski Bank, Southwest Bank, Missouri State Bank and BAM Construction Co., LLC, as well as being a member of the American, Missouri, and Metropolitan Saint Louis Bar Associations.
Nat Walsh is a co-founder of Title Holdings, LLC that operates title insurance agencies throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Security and St. Louis Title in Missouri and Benchmark Title in Illinois are underwritten by all of the major national underwriters. Security and Benchmark Title service local realtors and banks as well as serve as the point of contact for multiple national accounts including HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and various REO companies. St. Louis Title is a market share leader in coordinating the varied facets of commercial transactions for local and national attorneys, brokers, and lenders. Nat co-founded McGowan & Walsh, LLC in 2004 as a historic renovation company focused on contributing to the revitalization of downtown St. Louis and Kansas City. Since that time, his company completed the acquisition, financing, renovation, sale, and leasing of over 800 elegant residential loft units with congruent retail and office space. The 10 building, $100 million portfolio totaled over 1 million square feet in Missouri’s largest population centers. Nat served as the chairman of WestBridge Bank from the time of charter in 2007 to 2011. Nat’s service to the St. Louis community includes his commitment to Habitat for Humanity, where he has been the co-chair of the Development Council since 2007 and a member of the board since 2009; Mental Health America- Eastern Missouri, where he has served on the board since 1992 and is currently the president; and, to his children’s elementary school, Rohan Woods, where he served on the Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2011 and was the president of the board from 2009 to 2011. Nat is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Illinois, and Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and St. Louis University School of Law. Nat is married to the former Stacy Prosser and they have two children, Connor and Madison.
Dava Stark serves as the Vice President of Escrow and Administrative Operations for Security Title and Arch City Title. Her more than thirty years experience in business and operations management extends to both the title insurance and mortgage lending industries. Her responsibilities include the management of many employees across several offices in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Over the last 10 years, she and her family are proud to have started a thriving fence fabrication company in Lincoln County. As a small business owner, Dava understands the need for quality and attentive customer service to both the residential and commercial community. Recognized for her outstanding & unique skills in the title insurance field, she has been sought out to serve as a consultant for other title companies in both Missouri and Illinois. Dava has recently become a Certified Paralegal (CP) through the Centers for Legal Studies and looks forward to the next professional challenge, whatever that might be.
Wendy R. Cromer is the Vice President of Compliance, Sales and Marketing for Security Title Insurance Agency, LLC. and also serves as the Compliance Officer for five additional companies in the metropolitan area. Wendy is a native of St. Louis and graduated summa cum laude from Lindenwood University. Her career in the title insurance industry began in 1983. Wendy has been recognized by the Missouri Land Title Association, the St. Louis Mortgage Bankers Association and the St. Louis Association of Realtors for her outstanding achievements. She has served two terms as President for the Missouri Land Title Association and is a current member of the International Right of Way Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Risk Management Association.
John G. (Jack) Forsythe serves as Underwriting Counsel for Security Title Insurance Agency, LLC. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in December of 1996 and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1997. He is also a member of the Kansas and Nebraska Bars and is admitted to the Federal District Courts of Eastern Missouri, Western Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. Jack has over a decade of experience in the title industry working as counsel for local title insurance agents, including Security Title, as well as a national underwriter. Prior to rejoining Security Title in 2016, Jack served as an Associate at Kozeny & McCubbin, and later as Managing Attorney at Shapiro & Kreisman, L.L.C., law firms specializing in creditor’s rights and title curative matters. Jack also gained in depth experience analyzing complex mineral rights and lease issues at Randolph L. Marsh, P.C., a law firm serving the oil and gas industry. Jack holds a B.A. in History and Spanish from the College of the Holy Cross and an M.A. in Human Resource Management from Washington University in St. Louis. The Missouri Land Title Association nominated Jack as Young Title Professional of the Year in 2007. He has been a lecturer and Continuing Legal Education presenter throughout Missouri on real estate and title issues.
Melanie Zellers is the Escrow Operations Manager for Security Title Insurance Agency, LLC. She began her career in the title insurance industry in 1992, and has knowledge and experience in every facet of the business. She is responsible for managing the employees and daily operations across the St. Louis and St. Charles metropolitan area. Growing up in a real estate family, she understands firsthand the needs of the business, and customer service has always been her primary focus. Over her 25 plus years in the business, she has been recognized for providing exceptional customer service experiences. She is a native of St. Louis and attended Missouri State University
Chris Faron is the Escrow Operations Manager for Security Title Insurance Agency, LLC. She has more than thirty years’ experience in every facet of the title industry. Chris has worked in both production and escrow. While she currently oversees escrow, she also supports the compliance and accounting team. In addition, she serves as the liaison to the underwriters and facilitates all audits of the company.
Caroline Stephens earned her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in May of 2004 and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2004 and the Illinois Bar in 2006. She is also a member of the St. Louis Bar and the American Bar Association.Caroline comes to Security Title from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP where she practiced Commercial Litigation working on a team that prosecuted claims on behalf of a major national bank against mortgage bankers/loan originators to enforce repurchase obligations for loans sold in the secondary investment market. She also worked in securities litigation as part of a team that defended a brokerage firm against suitability and misrepresentation claims by 5 school districts related to alleged fraud in connection with a $200 million investment in synthetic CDOs. Prior to law school, Caroline spent nearly 10 years in the mortgage industry, starting as a processor and later as a loan officer, and has experience working at a local real estate office. As part of her commitment to the value of education, Caroline has tutored in the St. Louis Public School District for 4 years and at the International Institute.
